This 5-day budget Sri Lanka tour package covers the island's cultural triangle — Colombo's colonial harbour, Kandy's sacred Temple of the Tooth, and Sigiriya's extraordinary 5th-century rock fortress — with a stop at Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage on the most efficient scenic route between them. Every accommodation is centrally located, every meal guide points you toward what locals eat rather than what tourist menus charge.
Planning Logic: Colombo to Kandy is 115km by road, approximately 3–3.5 hours. The A1 highway through Kadugannawa Pass offers extraordinary hill views in the final 30km. Kandy to Sigiriya: 90km, approximately 2.5 hours via A9. The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is a deliberate en-route stop, 37km from Kandy — timing the visit for 9–10 AM (feeding time, river bathing) adds depth without diverting the route. We schedule the Sigiriya Rock climb for Day 4 at 6:30 AM — before the midday heat (30–35°C) and before the tour group wave (arrives 9–10 AM).
