The adventure is the point; the costly adrenaline icons like the Marina zipline and skydiving stay optional, so the base stays light. It is a land package, so your international flight is booked separately. Best enjoyed November to March, when the desert and the mountains are at their kindest. Arrival: Private car meets you at Dubai airport and runs you to your hotel, about 30 to 50 min depending on where you stay.
Settle in easy: Keep the first evening light before two big adventure days - a walk along the Marina and JBR beachfront, feet in the sand.
Early night: The desert pickup tomorrow is before the midday heat, so turn in - you will want the energy.
Pickup: A 4x4 collects you from the hotel, about 45 min out to the Lahbab red dunes before the sand turns to furnace.
Dune-bashing and quad: A proper dune-bash in the 4x4, then a quad-bike ride and sandboarding on the slopes. This is the active, daytime run, not the sit-down camp.
Back by afternoon: Dropped at the hotel to clean up and rest - the Hatta mountain day is tomorrow.
Drive out: Hatta is a mountain exclave of Dubai, about 90 min to 2 hrs by road - the scenery turns from flat sand to proper rock on the way.
Kayak the dam: Paddle the still turquoise water of the Hatta Dam between the peaks - calm, beginner-friendly, and the cool highlight of the trip.
Viewpoints and valley: The Hatta Dam viewpoint and the valley lookouts, then the drive back to the city by evening.
Half-day city tour: A guided run through old Dubai - the Creek, Al Fahidi's lanes, and the Gold and Spice souks in Deira.
Across the Creek: A one-dirham abra ride over the water, the oldest and cheapest boat trip in the city.
The Dubai Frame: Up the giant golden frame between old and new Dubai, with the glass walkway and the two skylines on either side.
