Arrival: Private car meets you at Dubai airport and runs you to your central hotel, about 15 to 30 min.
Into the Dubai Mall: The aquarium window and the souk section are free to wander, a short hop away.
Evening, free: The Dubai Fountain show, every half-hour after dark on the lake below the Burj Khalifa.
Pickup: Out to the dunes for dune bashing, a camel ride and sandboarding, about four hours.
Afternoon, old Dubai: A one-dirham abra across the Creek to the Gold and Spice souks, self-guided.
Evening, free: Back to Downtown for the Fountain again, or an easy night after the early start.
Half-day city tour: Jumeirah Mosque, a Burj Al Arab photo stop, the Palm and Atlantis drive, the Marina.
The Dubai Frame: Old city on one side of the glass bridge, new city on the other, in the afternoon.
Evening, free: Last buys at a mall or the souks, or a quiet dinner of your own choosing.
Breakfast: Breakfast and checkout. If the flight is late, leave bags and walk the Creek once more.
Departure: Private car to Dubai airport, timed to your flight with a buffer for the drive.
