The Tarsar-Marsar lake circuit is consistently rated among India's ten best moderate high-altitude treks — four days from Aru Valley (twelve kilometres from Pahalgam) through alpine meadows, pine forests, stream crossings, and a three thousand eight hundred metre ridge to two high-altitude twin lakes. Tarsar (3,800m) is a deep-blue circular lake set in a glacial bowl; Marsar (3,800m) is a larger, wilder lake on the other side of the same ridge. The circuit returns via Sumbal.
