Travelling through Switzerland on a student shoestring budget sounded insane, but Atravelq made it entirely realistic. The hostel picks in Lucerne and Interlaken were awesome—proper guest kitchens, clean dorm lockers, and literally 4 minutes from the tracks. The First Cliff Walk at Grindelwald blew my mind, and their tip to rent a Trottibike scooter to cruise down the mountain instead of paying for a return gondola saved me cash and was insanely fun. Whenever I wasn’t sure which platform ticket scanner to tap my mobile pass on, their team replied on WhatsApp within two minutes.

Tour Overview
A 7-day budget Switzerland tour package from India for people who want the mountains in the price and are happy to walk the towns for free - one night in Zurich on arrival, two in Lucerne and three in Interlaken, all on central 3-star hotels with a Swiss Half Fare Card. Best from May to September, when both summit lifts are on their full schedule.
This is the cheapest week we sell, and it is built that way on purpose. Two summits are included and paid for: Mt Titlis at 3,020m with the rotating cable car and the glacier cave, and Grindelwald First at 2,168m with the Cliff Walk. Everything else on the itinerary is free: the Lindenhof in Zurich, the Chapel Bridge and the Musegg Wall towers in Lucerne, the Hohematte in Interlaken, and the Staubbach Falls and the valley walk in Lauterbrunnen. The paid extras are listed with their prices on the Activities tab instead of being folded into the headline, and your rail card keeps them at half price if you decide to add one.
Key features of this package
Mid-range itinerary
Explore your journey day by day, with every stay, transfer and experience clearly planned.

Arrival: The train station sits directly beneath Zurich Airport arrivals — ten minutes to the city and no transfer to wait for.
Check-in: One night in a central Zurich 3-star. Starting here means you sleep off the flight instead of spending it on a train.
Evening: The Niederdorf lanes on the east bank, then the lake promenade at Burkliplatz. Also free.
Afternoon: The Lindenhof, a flat terrace on the hill in the middle of the old town that gives you the whole thing in one view. Free, and almost nobody goes up.
Why Zurich first: You sleep off the flight in a city rather than arriving in the mountains tired, and the last three nights stay settled in Interlaken.

Evening: The lakefront promenade past the Bahnhofsteg footbridge. A lake cruise is on the add-on list if you want to get out on the water.
Morning rail: Direct train to Lucerne, about an hour, roughly hourly through the day.
Afternoon: The Chapel Bridge, the oldest surviving wooden covered bridge in Europe, and the Lion Monument ten minutes away. Both free.
The best free view in Lucerne: The Musegg Wall towers. Four of the nine are open in season and you can climb them for nothing - the view over the old roofs is better than anything you would pay for.

Getting there: Train to Engelberg, about forty-five minutes, then three lift stages up Mt Titlis - finishing on the Rotair, the first rotating cable car built anywhere, which turns a full circle as it crosses the glacier.
At 3,020m: The Glacier Cave cut ten metres into the ice, the Cliff Walk suspension bridge at 3,041m, and snow on the ground in August. Included.
Ice Flyer: An open chairlift out over the glacier crevasses with nothing under your feet. Part of the same ticket, and the best thing up there.
Afternoon: Back down through Engelberg. The Benedictine monastery and the village cheese dairy are both free if you have time before the train.

Check-in: Three nights in Interlaken, the longest stay of the trip, walking distance from Interlaken Ost.
Evening: Unterseen, the quiet old quarter across the river, and the Lake Thun shore beyond it. Both free. The Harder Kulm funicular is on the add-on list if you want the high viewpoint.
Scenic rail: The Luzern-Interlaken Express over the Brunig Pass, with Lake Lungern below it. Two hours, no reservation, no supplement - a named scenic route that happens to be the ordinary way between your two bases.
Afternoon: The Hohematte, a protected meadow kept clear of buildings in the middle of town so the Jungfrau stays in view. Paragliders land on it through the afternoon. Free.

Getting there: Thirty-five minutes by train to Grindelwald, then the gondola to First at 2,168m. Included.
The Cliff Walk: A steel walkway bolted to the rock face, ending on a platform that juts out over the drop with the Eiger north face straight ahead.
Bachalpsee: An hour each way on an easy track to a lake that reflects the Schreckhorn on a still morning. Also free with your gondola ticket, and the best walk on this itinerary.
Pace: A full day if you do the lake walk, or a half day if you just want the Cliff Walk and the view. Either way you are back in Interlaken for a free evening.

Morning: Twenty minutes by train from Interlaken Ost into Lauterbrunnen - a flat-floored valley with vertical rock on both sides and seventy-two waterfalls coming off the walls. Rail included.
Staubbach Falls: Nearly 300m in a single drop, straight off the cliff above the village. Fifteen minutes on foot from the station and it costs nothing.
The valley walk: The path from Lauterbrunnen towards Stechelberg is about an hour, entirely level, with falls on both sides the whole way. This is the easiest good walk in the Bernese Oberland and it is free.
If you want more: Truemmelbach Falls, ten glacier waterfalls inside the mountain with a tunnel lift up through the rock, is on the add-on list. It is the only paid thing in this valley.

Traveller Reviews
We were four college friends wanting real adventure without the standard family tour vibe. Atravelq mapped out our transit so cleanly. Having unlimited train rides meant we could spontaneously hop off at small stations along Lake Thun just to swim in glacial water. Mount Titlis snow park was pure madness—the Ice Flyer chairlift felt like an adrenaline rush. Big appreciation for their hostel suggestions with self-cooking facilities, which helped us keep food costs low with instant noodles and local bread. The support desk was super responsive whenever we had questions about rail changes.
We wanted a raw, backpack-style experience instead of a typical luxury honeymoon setup. Atravelq’s itinerary struck the perfect balance between saving money and packing in thrills. Climbing up to Titlis at 10,000 feet and walking through the glacier cave was surreal. Staying in backpacker lodges close to Interlaken West meant we could grab hot meals from nearby Turkish falafel spots and supermarkets without taxi expenses. When our local train from Engelberg had a technical halt, their WhatsApp team pinged us the exact platform for the next connector train instantly. Very genuine team.
Dono doston ka plan tha ki Switzerland ghumna hai par pocket par zyada load nahi aana chahiye. Atravelq ne pura trip itne sahi dhang se set kiya ki humara ek rupee faltu kharch nahi hua. Lucerne aur Interlaken dono jagah jo hostels unhone suggest kiye the, wo platform se mushkil se 4 minute paidal the, toh luggage ke sath koi dikkat nahi aayi. Grindelwald First par Cliff Walk ka view aur Titlis ki glacier cave dekh kar maza hi aa gaya. Subah ke nashte ke liye hostel ka guest kitchen bahut kaam aaya. WhatsApp par coordination ekdum accurate aur genuine tha.
Recommended by my friend Rohit, honeymoon ke liye typical package lene ke bajaye hume thoda adventurous aur backpacking style ghumna tha. Atravelq ne bilkul waisa hi route banaya—Zurich se lekar Interlaken tak sab kuch local trains aur Swiss Travel Pass se smoothly connect ho gaya. Titlis Rotair ka revolving cable car experience zabardast tha, aur First par hiking karke jo photos aayi hain wo life-time memory ban gayi. Interlaken mein station ke pass rehne se daily raat ko aas-paas ke Indian aur Turkish food joints aaram se mil gaye. Jab bhi train connection mein doubt hota tha, unki team turant WhatsApp par guide kar deti thi.

Three reasons, and none of them is a hidden cut. Hotels are central 3-star rather than 4-star. Only two things are ticketed - Mt Titlis and Grindelwald First - and the other four days run on sights that are free to walk into. And the extras that used to be bundled in, like Harder Kulm and a lake cruise, are now on a list with their prices so you only pay for the ones you want. You get the cheapest way we sell a 3,020m glacier summit, plus a rail card that halves the price of anything you add.
