Taking my 72-year-old mother along with our two school-age kids to Europe felt overwhelming initially, but the pacing of this trip was spot on. The massive 9-meter chocolate fountain at Lindt Home of Chocolate in Kilchberg had the kids ecstatic, while Gruyères Castle and the Maison Cailler tasting in Broc was an absolute hit with everyone. Staying close to central stations made morning boarding effortless for mother without long walks. The team on chat even messaged us lift-accessible entry points for the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne. Very thoughtful and dependable coordination.

Tour Overview
A 5-night Switzerland food and chocolate tour package from India for people who would rather taste a country than photograph it - three nights in Zurich and two in Lucerne in central 3-star hotels, with a Swiss Half Fare Card. It runs all year, including the winter months when the mountain routes cannot.
Two chocolate makers and one cheese dairy, all of them working. At the Lindt Home of Chocolate in Kilchberg, you do the nine-metre fountain and the unlimited tasting, then spend forty minutes in an apron making a bar you take home. At Stein in Appenzell, you stand at the glass and watch a wheel of Appenzeller being turned. At Root, ten minutes out of Lucerne, Aeschbach lets you make a second bar and pour your own. Around those sit a self-guided tasting trail through Zurich's old town, a market morning and lunch in Bern, and a Swiss cheese and wine tasting in Lucerne. Dinners are not included on any night - this is a tasting trip, not a half-board one, and every evening is yours to choose. There is no cable car, no summit and no day that depends on the weather.
Key features of this package
Mid-range itinerary
Explore your journey day by day, with every stay, transfer and experience clearly planned.

Arrival: The rail station is directly under Zurich Airport arrivals. Ten minutes to the main station, and the hotel is a walk from there.
Evening: The Zeughauskeller in the old arsenal, which is where Zurich eats its own food rather than its tourist food. Dinner here is yours to pay for - the trail vouchers cover the afternoon tastings only.
Afternoon: A self-guided tasting trail through the old town with vouchers, not a guided tour. Sprungli on Paradeplatz for Luxemburgerli, a Tirggel and Huppen counter in the Niederdorf lanes, and a cheese shop that will cut you a tasting plate.
If you have time: The Lindenhof terrace above the lanes gives you the whole old town in one view, for nothing.

Morning: Twenty minutes down the lake shore to Kilchberg, where Lindt has made chocolate since 1899. Rail included.
Lindt Home of Chocolate: The nine-metre fountain in the atrium, the making-of exhibition from bean to bar, and a tasting area at the end with no limit on what you try. Entry included.
The workshop: Forty minutes in an apron and a Lindt Maitre hat, tempering and filling your own bar and choosing what goes on it. You take it home. Included - and it is the reason this day is here rather than a quick visit.
Afternoon: Back into Zurich, or stay on the Kilchberg lake promenade, which is quieter than anything on the city side.

Morning, early: About two hours east to Appenzell, then on to Stein. It is the one early start of the trip, and there is a reason for it below.
Appenzeller Show Dairy: A working dairy with a glass wall, where you watch a wheel being made and turned, and the herb brine recipe stays a secret even to the people selling it. Entry included.
The shop: The dairy sells the quarter, half and three-quarter matured wheels side by side, which is the only place you will taste the difference properly. Buying is yours - the entry is ours.
Afternoon: Appenzell village, where the house fronts are painted and the main street looks like a set. Free to walk, and the local bakeries sell Appenzeller Biberli.

Morning: An hour to Bern, bags with you. The station opens straight onto six kilometres of covered arcades, which is where the food shops are.
The market: Munsterplatz under the cathedral, with the Barenplatz stalls a few minutes away - Emmental and Gruyere cheeses by the wedge, Bernese sausage, and the alpine honey nobody exports. Market days are specific, so we time your Bern stop to one.
Afternoon: An hour on to Lucerne and check in. The evening is yours - the old town is a ten-minute walk and no dinner is included on any night of this package.

Morning: Ten minutes out to Root for Aeschbach Chocolate World - a working family chocolatier rather than a corporation, so the scale is different from Lindt. Rail included.
Your second bar: The ticket we book includes making and pouring your own, which is a different process from the Lindt workshop - there you fill a mould, here you work with the flow. Included.
Afternoon: Back in Lucerne for the riverside market along the Reuss if your day lines up with it, and the old-town cheese and charcuterie shops behind Kornmarkt either way. Both free to browse.
Late afternoon: A cheese and wine tasting - four Swiss cheeses against four Swiss wines, which almost nobody from India has tried together. Swiss wine is barely exported because the country drinks nearly all of it. Included.

Breakfast: At the hotel - the fifth and last one.
Rail: Lucerne to Zurich main station, about an hour, then ten minutes to the airport, arriving directly under the terminal.
Timing: Allow four hours from the hotel. Trains on the Lucerne leg are roughly hourly, so there is one to catch comfortably either side of your target.
Last buy: Chocolate keeps, cheese does not travel well in a cabin bag, and Swiss customs rules on dairy into India are worth checking before you load up. Buy the chocolate, photograph the cheese.

Traveller Reviews
Family ke sath holiday par historical spots aur kids ke entertainment ka balance banana mushkil hota hai, par yeh package perfect nikla. National Museum Zurich mein kids ko Swiss history samajh aayi aur Lindt factory mein unlimited chocolates taste karke sab khush ho gaye. Gruyères mein live cheese making dekhna aur Broc chocolate train feel zabardast thi. Station-adjacent hotels hone se heavy bags uthane ki tension nahi rahi. Jab Bern railway station par platform change ka doubt tha, team ne 2 minute mein clear kar diya.
Trip bohot accha arrange kiya tha. Swiss Museum of Transport Lucerne mein pura din kaise nikal gaya pata hi nahi chala, Bache simulators se bahar hi nahi aa rahe the. Einstein House dekh kar bacchon ko real inspiration mili. Sirf ek star isliye kaata kyunki Gruyères village mein pure vegetarian food ke options kafi limited the (sirf plain cheese fondue aur fries mili). Baki travel pass, train connectivity aur hotels ki quality first class thi. Daily support desk ne train switches bohot aasan bana diye.
A wonderful cultural getaway from the summer heat. The balance of chocolate tastings in Kilchberg and Broc paired with the art at Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern kept both our children and elders delighted. Gruyères Castle looked straight out of a storybook. Everything was organized punctually, from verified museum entries to comfortable station transfers. Having the ground support team arrange our luggage drop assistance between Bern and Lucerne gave our family total peace of mind. Excellent and refined service.
Tandem paragliding over Interlaken was hands down the best part of our entire trip. Coming down onto the green park with both lakes right behind us felt insane. The high-speed Eiger Express up to Jungfraujoch saves a ton of time compared to old trains. Clear weather made all the difference. Their team rescheduled our cable car timing smoothly when mountain winds delayed our morning flight slot by two hours.
Tell Us Your Dates and We Will Build Around the Markets
The Bern Munsterplatz market and the Zurich Burkliplatz market run on set days and change with the season, and a food trip that misses both is a food trip with two fewer meals in it. Give us your travel window at enquiry rather than a fixed date and we will shift the Bern stopover and the Zurich trail onto market mornings. If your dates cannot reach a market day, we will say so before you pay instead of after.
