Taking my 72-year-old mother along with our two school-age kids to Europe felt overwhelming initially, but the pacing of this trip was spot on. The massive 9-meter chocolate fountain at Lindt Home of Chocolate in Kilchberg had the kids ecstatic, while Gruyères Castle and the Maison Cailler tasting in Broc was an absolute hit with everyone. Staying close to central stations made morning boarding effortless for mother without long walks. The team on chat even messaged us lift-accessible entry points for the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne. Very thoughtful and dependable coordination.

Overview
A 5-night Switzerland mountain tour package from India built around the two summit railways people actually come for - the Jungfrau Railway to 3,454m and the Gornergrat Bahn to 3,089 m, facing the Matterhorn - with three nights in Interlaken and two in Zermatt. Zurich, Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen and Geneva are built into the travelling days. May to October gives the clearest summit mornings; both railways run in winter too, and winter tickets are cheaper. From ₹1,54,999 per person, two adults in a double room - land package, international flights excluded. Tell us your dates, and we will build the quote around them.

Explore your journey day by day, with every stay, transfer and experience clearly planned.

Arrival: The rail station sits directly under Zurich Airport arrivals. Ten minutes to the main station, bags into a locker - one ticket carries you through to Interlaken with this stop built into it.
Evening: Check in for three nights. The Hohematte park in the middle of Interlaken gives you the Jungfrau framed between two hotels, which is the view you will recognise from every brochure.
Late morning: Lindenhof, the flat terrace above the old town, then the Niederdorf lanes down to the Limmat. Free, and it is the whole of Zurich's old quarter in about two hours.
Afternoon: Bags collected, then about two hours to Interlaken along Lake Thun. Sit on the right after Spiez - the lake is on that side and so is the first proper view of the Bernese Alps.

Early morning: Interlaken Ost to Grindelwald, then up to Kleine Scheidegg and on to the Jungfraujoch. About two hours each way, and the whole climb is included.
The tunnel: The last stretch runs inside the Eiger itself, cut between 1896 and 1912 by men working with hand drills and dynamite. It still ends at the highest railway station in Europe.
At the top: The Sphinx terrace at 3,571m, the Ice Palace carved into the glacier, and the Aletsch - the longest glacier in the Alps - running away below you for twenty-three kilometres.
On the way down: Break at Grindelwald. The village sits under the Eiger north face and is worth an hour on foot before the last leg back to Interlaken.

Morning: Twenty minutes from Interlaken Ost into the Lauterbrunnen valley, a trench with vertical rock walls on both sides and seventy-two waterfalls coming off them.
Staubbach Falls: Just under 300 metres in a single drop, straight behind the village. A footpath takes you into the rock behind the water, and none of it costs anything.
Afternoon: The valley floor walk towards Trummelbach, flat the whole way with the Jungfrau closing the end of the valley. Then back to Interlaken whenever you like.
If you want more: Harder Kulm's funicular, the Trummelbach glacier falls inside the mountain, and a Lake Brienz cruise are all on the add-on list with their prices. This day is deliberately left free and cheap, because the two summit days either side of it are not.
Evening: Yours. Zermatt is expensive to eat in; the places a street back from the Bahnhofstrasse charge noticeably less than the ones on it.
Morning: Interlaken to Zermatt, about two hours and ten minutes with a change at Visp. The only hotel move of the trip, and the valley narrows the whole way in.
Zermatt: No petrol cars are allowed in the village, so it runs on electric buggies and feet. Check in, then walk up the Bahnhofstrasse to where the street ends and the Matterhorn starts.
Afternoon: The Kirchbrucke, the small bridge over the Matter Vispa, is where the standard photograph of the mountain is taken from. Two minutes from the main street and free.

Why this route works
The Half Fare Card is what makes this price possible
Jungfraujoch at full fare is CHF 261.20 and Gornergrat is CHF 132 - the two most expensive tickets most visitors ever buy in Switzerland. A Swiss Travel Pass only takes 25 per cent off the top section of the Jungfrau climb. The Half Fare Card takes 50 per cent off both, and off every train in between. It costs CHF 150 and saves about CHF 200 on this route, which is why it is inside the package rather than something you find out about later. Two summits, two completely different mountains
Jungfraujoch puts you inside the Alps - a tunnel through the Eiger, a glacier plateau, ice caves, and the longest glacier in the Alps below the terrace. Gornergrat puts you opposite them - an open ridge with the Matterhorn straight ahead and twenty-nine four-thousanders around it. One is about being in the mountains, the other about looking at them. Packages that do only one of them are selling you half the country. Two hotels, and the other cities come free
Zurich is a half-day on the arrival morning with your bags in a station locker. Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen are short runs from the Interlaken base. Geneva is a stop on the way to your flight home. None of them needs a hotel night, because a Swiss ticket is valid all day and lets you break the journey - so you unpack twice in six days and still see six places.Inclusions & exclusions

Traveller Reviews
Family ke sath holiday par historical spots aur kids ke entertainment ka balance banana mushkil hota hai, par yeh package perfect nikla. National Museum Zurich mein kids ko Swiss history samajh aayi aur Lindt factory mein unlimited chocolates taste karke sab khush ho gaye. Gruyères mein live cheese making dekhna aur Broc chocolate train feel zabardast thi. Station-adjacent hotels hone se heavy bags uthane ki tension nahi rahi. Jab Bern railway station par platform change ka doubt tha, team ne 2 minute mein clear kar diya.
Trip bohot accha arrange kiya tha. Swiss Museum of Transport Lucerne mein pura din kaise nikal gaya pata hi nahi chala, Bache simulators se bahar hi nahi aa rahe the. Einstein House dekh kar bacchon ko real inspiration mili. Sirf ek star isliye kaata kyunki Gruyères village mein pure vegetarian food ke options kafi limited the (sirf plain cheese fondue aur fries mili). Baki travel pass, train connectivity aur hotels ki quality first class thi. Daily support desk ne train switches bohot aasan bana diye.
A wonderful cultural getaway from the summer heat. The balance of chocolate tastings in Kilchberg and Broc paired with the art at Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern kept both our children and elders delighted. Gruyères Castle looked straight out of a storybook. Everything was organized punctually, from verified museum entries to comfortable station transfers. Having the ground support team arrange our luggage drop assistance between Bern and Lucerne gave our family total peace of mind. Excellent and refined service.
Tandem paragliding over Interlaken was hands down the best part of our entire trip. Coming down onto the green park with both lakes right behind us felt insane. The high-speed Eiger Express up to Jungfraujoch saves a ton of time compared to old trains. Clear weather made all the difference. Their team rescheduled our cable car timing smoothly when mountain winds delayed our morning flight slot by two hours.

Frequently asked questions
Three reasons, and none of them is a cut corner. First, the rail product: a Half Fare Card at CHF 150 halves both summit tickets, whereas a Swiss Travel Pass only takes 25 per cent off the top of the Jungfrau climb - that difference alone is about CHF 135 per person. Second, we do not pay for hotel nights in Zurich, Grindelwald or Geneva; you see all three on days you are travelling anyway, with your bags in a station locker. Third, only two nights in Zermatt, which has the dearest beds in Switzerland. What you are not getting is a tour manager, a coach, or five-star rooms.
