Switzerland on a tight budget felt impossible until we spoke to Atravelq. Setting our bases in Lucerne and Interlaken saved us from spending on daily taxi rides and baggage transfers. The hotel near Lucerne station was clean and quiet, with a small kitchen space where we could heat milk and make our daily tea. Taking the cogwheel up to Mount Rigi using our Swiss Travel Pass felt like a five-star experience without spending extra. Whenever we got confused at the train platforms in Zurich, their team cleared it up on WhatsApp within two minutes.

Tour Overview
A 7-day budget honeymoon Switzerland tour package from India for couples who would rather sit still and look at something than tick off a list - two nights in Lucerne, three in Interlaken and one in Zurich, on a Swiss Half Fare Card. Best from late April to mid-October, when the Harder Kulm funicular and the Lake Brienz boats are both running.
This is the unhurried tier. One outing a day, and the outings are water and long views rather than high-altitude ice: Mt Rigi with the old lake steamer back into Lucerne, the Harder Kulm funicular to watch the sun go off the Jungfrau, a slow day in the Lauterbrunnen valley, and a Lake Brienz cruise to Giessbach Falls. Jungfraujoch is deliberately not here - it is what our Premium and Luxury honeymoon routes are built around, and leaving it out is most of the reason this one sits where it does on price.
Key features of this package
Budget itinerary
Explore your journey day by day, with every stay, transfer and experience clearly planned.

Arrival: Land at Zurich Airport. The train station is directly beneath arrivals — no shuttle, no taxi, no pre-booked transfer to pay for.
Transfer: Direct train to Lucerne, roughly 1 hour. Your Half Fare Card is issued before departure, so this ticket is already at 50%.
Check-in: Two nights in central Lucerne — a 3-star within walking distance of the station, so day one costs you nothing extra in transport.
Evening: Walk the Chapel Bridge and the Reuss riverfront. In June the light holds until almost 10 PM — the best free thing you will do all week.

Morning: Board a Lake Lucerne steamer from the quay outside the station to Vitznau — about an hour on the water, and the reason to do Rigi rather than a closer peak.
Cog railway: Europe's oldest mountain railway, running since 1871, climbs to Rigi Kulm at 1,798m. Your day pass covers unlimited rides on the mountain.
At the top: Lakes on both sides, the Bernese Alps in the distance, and a gentle ridge path you can walk in ordinary shoes.
Budget tip: Carry lunch up. Summit restaurants in Switzerland run CHF 25–35 a head and the picnic benches have the same view.

Check-in: Three nights in Interlaken — the longest stay of the trip, deliberately, so you stop living out of a suitcase.
Evening: The Harder Kulm funicular climbs to 1,322m in ten minutes. Time it for sunset: Lake Thun on one side, Lake Brienz on the other, the Jungfrau straight ahead.
Morning rail: Lucerne → Interlaken Ost over the Brünig Pass, about 2 hours past Sarnen, Lungern and Lake Brienz. Sit on the left leaving Lucerne.
Return funicular included: The viewing platform juts out over the drop and is where most couples get their one good photograph of the trip.

Evening: Your candlelit dinner in Interlaken — the only dinner included in this package, kept for the night you will remember it.
Morning: Twenty minutes by train from Interlaken Ost into Lauterbrunnen - a flat-floored valley with vertical rock on both sides and seventy-two waterfalls coming off the walls.
Staubbach Falls: Nearly 300m in a single drop, straight off the cliff above the village. The path to the base takes fifteen minutes from the station and costs nothing.
The valley walk: The flat path from Lauterbrunnen towards Stechelberg is about an hour, entirely level, with falls on both sides the whole way. This is the easiest good walk in the Bernese Oberland.

Suggested: Bus or short train to Iseltwald on Lake Brienz — a small stone village on a turquoise lake, and an easy shoreline walk with almost no one on it.
Or simply: Stay in Interlaken. The Höhematte meadow, the Aare promenade and a paddle-boat on Lake Thun fill a day without a ticket.
If you want a summit: This is the day to add Jungfraujoch, Schilthorn or Grindelwald First. All three are quotable as add-ons — see the Activities tab for what they cost.
Why it's free: Leaving one day unbooked is intentional. It keeps the base price low and lets you spend on the one thing you actually want.

Check-in: One night in Zurich, close to the main station so the morning flight is simple.
Evening: Niederdorf lanes in the old town, then the Limmat riverside. Window-shop Bahnhofstrasse; buying there is a different budget entirely.
Rail: Rail: Interlaken Ost to Bern along Lake Thun, then Bern to Zurich. About two and a quarter hours in total, and you can break the journey without paying extra.
Optional stop: Break for three hours in Bern's UNESCO old town on the way — the arcades and the Zytglogge clock cost nothing to see.

Traveller Reviews
Organising an affordable Swiss winter honeymoon felt like a minefield until Atravelq sorted it out. The pacing between Zurich, Lucerne, and Interlaken was spot on, with zero rushed early mornings. The Lake Brienz ferry cruise in crisp winter air was magical, and taking the local cogwheel train up through Lauterbrunnen to Mürren gave us proper postcard views without paying a fortune for summit tickets. Having their team on WhatsApp to flag a platform shift during a quick connection was brilliant. Proper, no-nonsense travel planning.
Being our first trip abroad, we were nervous about food and local transport costs. Atravelq’s itinerary showed us how to make the most of the Swiss Travel Pass for free lake boats and city trams. Our room in Interlaken was just two minutes from the station and right opposite a Coop supermarket, which kept our meal expenses completely under control. When sudden rain disrupted our trip to Staubbach Falls, their support team instantly suggested an indoor castle route near Spiez. Honest, budget-conscious guidance that made our honeymoon stress-free.
We wanted a peaceful mountain escape from the Gulf heat without splurging on tourist traps, and this itinerary was perfect. The Luzern-Interlaken Express journey had unreal views, and the boutique hotel rooms were cosy with proper alpine balconies. The best part was Atravelq’s WhatsApp coordination; they pre-checked our rail connections and suggested scenic walking paths around Lake Thun that didn't cost a single dirham extra. Logistics were smooth, hotels were well located, and we wasted zero time.
Coming all the way from Oz, we wanted a romantic rail trip across Zurich, Lucerne, and Interlaken that wouldn't drain our savings account. Atravelq nailed it. The hotels were right next to the platforms, so no dragging big bags across town. Cruising across Lake Lucerne and doing the cliffside walk in Lauterbrunnen were unforgettable highlights that came free with our pass. When our incoming flight into Zurich was delayed by an hour, the team had already updated our hotel check-in notes via WhatsApp. Legendary service.
Booked our honeymoon through Atravelq after seeing their rail-focused itineraries, and it was worth every rupee. Both hotels in Lucerne and Interlaken were clean, central, and within walking distance of Indian vegetarian dining options. Walking across Chapel Bridge in the evening and taking the cogwheel train through alpine meadows felt like a dream. Their WhatsApp team was active throughout the day, always ready with platform details and scenic photo spots. Highly recommended for couples wanting an authentic Swiss holiday on a smart budget.
We wanted a memorable European honeymoon without exhausting our savings, and Atravelq delivered exactly that. Our stays in Lucerne and Interlaken were barely a three-minute walk from the train stations, saving us from taking expensive cabs. The room had a microwave and hot water kettle, making it very easy to prepare quick breakfasts before catching early trains. Following their suggestion to take the Lake Lucerne steamer and Mount Rigi cogwheel on the Swiss Travel Pass gave us top-tier alpine views without spending an extra franc. Whenever we had a train doubt, their team replied instantly on WhatsApp.
As first-time travellers to Europe, our main concern was managing local travel. Atravelq’s detailed PDF guide and 24/7 WhatsApp help made everything straightforward. The hotel in Interlaken was right next to a Coop supermarket, which kept our daily food budget well within limits. Cruising across Lake Brienz and walking across the wooden Chapel Bridge in Lucerne during twilight were unforgettable moments for both of us. Honest pricing, great budget advice, and very reliable on-ground support throughout our stay.
Coming from Delhi, we were really worried about crazy Euro exchange rates and daily food expenses in Switzerland. Atravelq’s budget planning was a total game-changer. The hotel in Interlaken was barely a 200-meter walk from the station, and having an electric kettle and kitchenette let us manage breakfast and evening tea easily without burning cash. Their advice to use the Swiss Travel Pass for Mount Rigi and the Lake Brienz boat ride meant we got world-class views without paying hefty summit ticket prices. Super prompt WhatsApp support whenever we needed quick train timing confirmations.

Because it is the single most expensive thing you can do in Switzerland — roughly CHF 150 per person even with your Half Fare Card discount, which is around ₹35,000 added to a couple's trip. Including it would push this package into a different price bracket entirely. Day 5 is deliberately left free so you can add it if you want it, and we will quote it separately so you can see the cost before deciding.
